Kingston upon Thames RBC , Former Chief Executive
Leading change in local government and public services to achieve better outcomes for people and places is what has driven Charlie throughout her career.
Charlie has worked in public services for over 25 years and was until last year, Chief Executive of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and before that fulfilled the same role for two councils in Suffolk. In Kingston, Charlie led a senior team that had place making at its heart and prior to that she worked collaboratively with colleagues in Suffolk to develop a whole system approach to public service reform and transformation, again with an inclusive growth agenda at the core. In her London role, Charlie was a member of the London Chief Executives team with collective responsibility for local government’s contribution to shaping the future of our capital City.
Charlie started her public service career as a lawyer and is a governance expert. Convinced that good governance flows from constructive system leadership, a common shared sense of purpose and strong robust relationships. Charlie is particularly interested in working with councils to find new ways of working that puts the achievement of better social and community outcomes at the heart of how local partners collectively organise and govern themselves.
